Xander

I thought I would just send a quick note and let you know how happy we are with Xander. He's settling in to his new home very well, and has really just been a perfect angel from the get go. Xander

We drove back up to Montclair on Saturday evening through a torrential rain storm, and he and Julian slept on the back seat through the whole thing. We picked up a crate on the way home, and he has been sleeping there each night without any issues. He's eating fine, behaves well in the house, and we have been on lots of good long walks, which he loves. And of course he's spent a fair amount of time cuddling on the couch with us.

We've started introducing the new food, and have a vet appointment booked this week, so hopefully that will also go well.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a quick update, and say thank you for the chance to find such a wonderful dog, and for all the work you do to find homes for these beagles.

Balki (left)

I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how Balki (formerly Greg, from the TN litter of this spring) is doing in our family, as well as how much rescuing an animal has enriched our lives. We already had a 2 year old beagle named Tater Salad, who we bought, and wanted to rescue for our second dog. Balki

It was a pleasure to work with you, and it was evident that you care tremendously about where your babies end up. Balki was 8 weeks old when we brought him home, and he's been the boss ever since! He's now a robust 35 pounds, and you should hear this boy howl!

Have any of the other "parents" made a guess as to the puppies heritage? Mine (the vet agrees) is that their dad was part bluetick coonhound- he has a much deeper bay than Tater (who is pure beagle) and has a gorgeous blueticked bib on with matching redticked socks! And he's very tall, and very very goofy. He loves to steal all of his brother's toys and put them in a pile, which he guards by wrestling. Overall, he is a good boy and in great health. He and Tater are truly a joy to have in our lives, and make every day a little better. Thank you again for helping us make Balki a part of our lives, he's crazy, and WE LOVE HIM!

Cleo

Cleo Merry Christmas to you from our family. Cleo the shy beagle continues to blossom into a confident young lady and a wonderful family pet. Her favorite things are: getting her tummy scratched, sleeping on the couch, eating treats, walking in the woods, running across the frosty yard, rolling in the grass and visiting the neighbor's cat. Thanks so much for the work you do! Best wishes to you in 2009!

Misty (right) and Bucky

Back in August 1999, you introduced us to Misty (her name was Lucky at the time, but we had another Beagle named Lucky at same time, so when we said "Miss Lucky", our kids said as Misty, and her new name was set). She was being given up by a man in Bethlehem, PA, but you had no foster home nor room available for her. So, you linked us up directly with the owner to meet Misty. Upon meeting Misty, we took her immediately since she and our Lucky hit if off right away. We were her 3rd owner in a year's time since the Bethlehem family got her from another family, who gave her up. Misty

Well, 10+ years later, Misty is a lot slower, but still doing well ... actually she is now acting 3-4 years younger now that the softball sized tumor removed from her shoulder ... for last 2 years, the vet was avoiding doing this due to her age, but the fatty tumor grew big enough to start interfering with her breathing. Since her heart and organs tested out strong, the vet finally agreed to the surgery. All went great and Misty is slowly building up her strength to take walks again.

Our original Lucky passed on at age 16 earlier this year, but we adopted a 1 yr old beagle from a local rescue group (Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue) near Pittsburgh where we now live. They rescued him the day before he was to be put down. Since their van broke down, I agreed to use my Outback wagon to transport the 8-9 rescued dogs that day around to the various foster homes. Bucky was with me for over 3 hours in the car, so that kind of cemented the deal.

Anyway, Misty and Bucky are keeping the house lively ... attached is a picture of them today ... obviously Misty is the gray haired dog on the right in the picture.

I was keeping busy on a rainy day looking around on the internet and ran across the SOS Beagle link and saw your name listed. So thought I would update you on a past and present happy life for Misty. Thanks for introducing us to Misty,

-Bill Orr

Casey (left) and Reese

Casey just wanted to give you an update and some pictures of "Madge" (we changed her name to Casey) whom we adopted from you last November. She and her brother are doing excellent. If you remember, we brought our beagle Reese with us to help choose, and the two seemed to have a connection. Well, they are inseparable. They always have to be wherever the other is, and they love to cuddle with each other while they're sleeping. They also love to cuddle on the couch in the evenings with my husband and me. Thanks so much

- Marie

Connor

I thought I would drop you a note to let you know how Conner the beagle is doing. We adopted him last year from you, around this time of the year. Wow I can't believe we had him for one year already. Connor He is the love of my life, second to my husband and equal as Daisy May our other beagle. We named him George Clooney. The name suits him wonderfully. Daisy May just loves him so much and so do we. The kids in our neighborhood love him, and knock on our door to play with the two beagles. He is a riot, he loves howling to fire whistle. He also barks and bays at the bunnies in our back yard. It is very funny watching him, he loves it, and can't get enough of the bunnies. He is just so handsome a boy, and he is just such a cuddle bug.

He loves our sofa, I personally have given up trying to keep him off, he is such a couch potato. He loves sitting up there and watching tv, he just can't get enough.

Thanks again for our wonderful little man.
