CROSS-POSTING -- Romeo is NOT in the SOS Beagle Rescue program at this time

I pulled Romeo from a shelter in Rome, GA after getting an email about him. He is a full blooded Beagle. Weighs 20 lb.'s. Small. He absolutely loves other dogs, cats and is great with my children. He is now neutered and fully vaccinated. We named him Romeo because he is so sweet and handsome. He is very timid at first but once he is no longer scared he is super cuddly. I've been fostering him a really long time and am now having some health problems and it would be helpful to have only our dogs here to lighten my load.

SPENCER WAS ADOPTED BY THE SOLIS FAMILY - 8/28/10,

Spencer is a beautiful beagle with a wonderful personality. He is still only a puppy at around 1yr old. Therefore, he still likes to chew on things and may try to steal a shoe now and then. He gets along well with other dogs, cats and he absolutely loves children. He loves to run and play with them. He loves the attention. He is smart and a quick learner. He is not voracious when he eats, but instead takes his time even sometimes laying down to eat. He has had some accidents since coming into foster, but we are working on that with crate training and keeping him on a lead. He now is allowed to wander in certain rooms and he is doing great. He likes to dig holes to lie in which leads me to believe he is used to staying outside. However, he now loves to be inside and waits at the door for someone to let him in. He takes naps on the sofa or in one of the doggie beds. He will make an excellent family dog.

Sadie, a young, fun loving female beagle needs a permanent home. Her past is relatively unknown but she is a very loving and active dog who gets along well with and plays with the other dogs in her present foster home. She is up to date on her shots and is on heartworm preventative medicine.
Sadie is very cautious and scares easily - it takes her time to warm up to new people but once she does she will give the unconditional love that only a dog can give. My place has been home to her for close to two months, she shares a fenced in yard with my Labrador Retriever and when those two start playing, they are hilarious.

She is not fussy about food, she’ll eat most anything you put in front of her. Presently she is living out of doors in a kennel but we’re considering bringing her in the house and “crate training” her, since we are not sure if she has been housebroken.

I should have been named " cuddles" i love to have all of your attention all the time. I was never given much training so be patient with me and teach me what you want me to do. You have to give me a lot of time to learn and lots of patience, I am a bit persistent in doing things my way. It's best to keep me in my crate as I learn. Give me a fenced in yard and let me run, I will show you how fast I am and playful I can be. But I am very quick, so make sure I can't get out because you might not catch me. I love to play with my treats, give me a snack and get out the video camera, it's going to be funny to watch. My potty habits are pretty good, but if you're not careful I'll make a quick dart to another room and you will never know. Make sure you give me a routine and Ill be fine. When I go poopy, you will know, I run around the house like it's Christmas. I'm pretty funny with everything I do. I just need someone to teach me how to properly behave, my manners are a bit off. I get along great with all of my foster dogs and cat, I pretty much leave them alone because I am more interested in loving you. I have lots of energy, so I would enjoy walks and exercise, when my foster parents wear me out, I sleep well. If you don't exercise me, I will whimper and whine in my crate and that can keep you up later then you would like. Attention is my biggest priority..... nobody gave that to me before so I need lots of it.

Lucky Hank
Age: ~2 yrs?

LUCKY HANK WAS ADOPTED BY THE PASQUARELLI FAMILY - 8/28/10,

Lucky was found by Big Norm --

Beth-- I am so glad you are helping find this dog a permanent home. As you know, we are calling him Lucky Hank. It's sort of appropriate, since he is very lucky to still be alive. I found Lucky Hank while driving home from a club meeting at our motorcycle club's clubhouse on Top O/ the World. I was coming down off the mountain through Butterfly Gap. If you're not familiar, it is a small, very winding road. You are never surprised to turn a sharp curve and see turkeys or bears standing in the roadway.

I was about half way down the mountain, approx. 2 miles in each direction from any type of house or people, when I looked up in the middle of the road and saw a dog standing there, very composed, just staring at me heading toward him. I kept going toward him expecting him to move out of the way, like dogs usually do. However, I was surprised that he didn't move. He didn't budge one inch. He just stared me down.

When I got to him, I stopped and rolled down the window. What I saw broke my heart. This dog, a beautiful tri-colored beagle, was just standing there, completely emaciated, staring at me and shaking. He had a very sad look to him. You could see EVERY bone in this animal. He was looking at me as if he had wanted me to run him over and end his suffering. We both just sat there for a few seconds, staring at each other. He took a couple of steps toward me and his front legs gave out, and he just fell there in the road. He was flailing and struggling, attempting in vain to get back on his feet. He didn't even have the strength left to stand any longer. Now I know dogs don't have the rationale to contemplate suicide, but I swear this dog wanted me to kill him with my truck that day.

I got out of the truck and not knowing if he was rabid or sick, approached him very cautiously. As I approached him, he stopped flailing, took a deep breath, rolled his eyes back and just started wimpering. Now, I'm a biker. It takes a lot to rattle my cage, but this pup was breaking my heart. I carefully picked him up and placed him in the truck and brought to my home in Maryville. We placed him in our basement the first night, out of the rain, and got him some water and food. He drank water until I thought he would bust. He ate all of the bowl of food we gave him. We gave him another bowl a couple hours later, he consumed all of that one too. When we gave him the second bowl, My wife, son and I all noticed he started wagging his tail and becoming affectionate. To be honest, Lucky still looks like h*ll. But his improvement in just 24 hours was shocking.

It's now been another 24 hours and he continues to amaze us all. We now have him teathered outside on a covered back porch. He can lay in the sun or get in his kennel on the concrete in the shade. When we go outside to check on him, he now springs right to life! He runs up to us, excited. Its almost hard to tell if the dog is wagging the tail or if the tail is wagging the dog. He's a very affectionate pup. Seems to love my 11 year old son. When our inside dog, (a Labrador) goes out to relieve himself, Lucky Hank tries every way he can to get him to play, but Zues is just too old. He sniffs around a little, and then walks off.

My son has taken him leash walking around the neighborhood a couple of times. He seems to get along well with all of the neighborhood kids and other animals. He has shown no signs of food aggression.... well, he isn't mean aggressive, but he does get excited and you might get body tackled when he sees you set down his food bowl, LOL. He's just an all around great pup who really needs room to raom and be a beagle.

I would give anything if I had that to offer him, but unfortunately, I live in the Maryville City limits, and keeping him chained up in my subdivision would go over like flatulence in church. I will keep him here as long as I can without the neighbors complaining. Hopefully between us both we can find this little guy a loving home. Again, thanks so much with your help in the endeavor. I appreciate it, and I know Lucky Hank does.

REESE WAS ADOPTED BY THE RAVELLI FAMILY - 8/28/10,

Hello, I was named Reese like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup because I am so sweet! (Well also because I ran off with a reese’s wrapper on my first doggie walk….) I am an active young girl with puppy still in me. I love to run and play with other dogs. I also love to play with my dog toys and dog bone. I also love to run off with a shirt or a shoe every now and then so you have to watch me. I am easily corrected though and give this sad puppy look as if to say "I'm sorry". I have not had an accident in the house so far so potty training is looking good. Most of the time if I am not in play mode I just want to take a snooze on the couch or the floor with my toys close by. I am such a good girl that at the vet’s office they decided to keep me in the kitchen instead of a cage because they liked me so much! I would love to stay in your kitchen! Do you have room for a "Reesey cup" in your home?

She's a chocolate! And she's a pound or 2 pudgy a the moment, so we had to call her milk dud! At only a year or so, she's still a pup, and she loves to be with her people. She's a lap pup, no doubt about it. Milk dud is beautiful and pure bred, with a brown nose and white legs. She is fairly calm and quiet in the house, but loves to go run at the dog park. She is just such a sweetie, and gets along with everyone, human, canine and feline! She may even be house trained as her only 2 accidents were on the run in front of the back door (foster mom's fault).

Douglas
Age: 3 to 4 years
Sex: male
neutered

Sponsor Me!

Douglas is a calm, sweet purebred Beagle who is looking for his forever family. Doug is being fostered in central AL and he has been described by his foster mom as mostly chilled out, with a little bit of frisky thrown in. Douglas likes to run through the house, and get all the other dogs riled up and barking, and then he just settles down and tries to look innocent! Doug is small in statue, weighing only 20 pounds, but he is just the perfect dog for a family seeking to add a companion. Doug likes to be near his people, but he is not an attention hog – he is happy just lying in the corner, keeping an eye on what’s going on. Douglas gets antsy when he is by himself, but he is the perfect boy for someone looking for a constant companion.

JESSI WAS ADOPTED BY THE HOGE FAMILY ON AUGUST 9, 2010!

Jessi is a small / medium beagle at about 22 pounds. She is around 1 year old. Jessi has a great beagle howl when she gets excited or frustrated (check it out on the videos), but she doesn't bust out with it too often so she should be fine with neighbors. She loves to play with her foster brother and sisters, and she gets along well with cats. Jessi is working on her house training skills, she is still a pup but she will get there. She is well behaved with people, and a little on the submissive side. She is a medium energy beagle, that loves attention and snuggle time.

Chrissy is a sweetheart! She loves it when people pay attention to her, and she gives kisses, but she isn't needy at all. Chrissy sleeps all night (and late into the morning!), is crate trained, and is doing well on her house training. She whistles when she is happy, and she is usually happy. Chrissy is small and quiet, if a tad mischievous, she would do well in an apartment. Chrissy gets along great with her fellow foster dogs and cat, and she likes to play with them and at the dog park. Chrissy is a chow-hound at heart, and loves a good dinner. She will sometimes pilfer an unattended flip flop or sock, but her foster mom can usually find these items hidden in Chrissy's crate! Chrissy is comfortable with children, men and women.
